BILPREVDA
Bilprevda is a RANK ligand inhibitor used to prevent skeletal-related events in patients with multiple myeloma or bone metastases from solid tumors. It is also indicated for the treatment of adults and skeletally mature adolescents with giant cell tumor of bone that is unresectable or where surgery would result in severe morbidity. Additionally, the medication is used to treat hypercalcemia of malignancy in patients whose condition is refractory to bisphosphonate therapy. This therapeutic agent plays a critical role in managing bone-related complications and specific bone tumors by modulating bone resorption.
How BILPREVDA Works
Bilprevda binds to RANKL, a protein essential for the formation, function, and survival of osteoclasts, which are the cells responsible for bone resorption. By preventing RANKL from activating the RANK receptor on the surface of osteoclasts and their precursors, the drug inhibits the breakdown of bone and the release of calcium. In giant cell tumors of bone, this mechanism also targets osteoclast-like giant cells to help control tumor growth and osteolysis.
